Is Happiness the Truth?
I’m seeing more and more of the power of positivity in the world as if, even in the challenges that are Covid, we’re taking action to make the world a better place.
One of the benefits of the Long Tail of Covid?
Just the other day, I saw a customer at my neighborhood Rite Aid walk around the store thanking the workers for coming into work. She showered them with appreciations to the point that they became a bit embarrassed claiming that they were “only doing my job.”
They appreciated the support.
An article in this month’s Harvard Business Review discusses the research demonstrating that when people listen to positive music, the performance of that country’s stock market improves. Music modulates our moods and when we are feeling better, we see a future that is more positive and hopeful. The research does not use the lyrics but the rhythm and beat ,so songs like Pharrell William’s “Happy” got us all jumping around and apparently buying into the American Dream. In contrast, Adele’s beautiful song, “Hello”, was a downer although it brought her a ton of money. By the way, songs were rated by Spotify’s Data Science Group and their finding led to a machine algorithm that rated other music.
Happiness is definitely a state of mind. Pharrell reminds us to
“Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth”
“Clap along if you know what happiness is to you”
“Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do”
Hey, it’s your call, feel free to clap along.
Best wishes for an amazing 2022.
